2020 Family Adventure Holidays - Coronavirus Travel Update

What's the latest on family adventures for summer 2020?

Family holidays are incredibly special and we pride ourselves on our ability to keep everyone happy, from toddlers to teens and parents to grandparents. It's the reason families come back year after year. That's why we've had to take the very hard decision not to open our Med Beach Club, Chateau Family Adventure or Mont Saint-Michel Multi-Activity holidays this summer.

We have explored many different scenarios to make these holidays enjoyable for our families. But given the social distancing rules in France, we just cannot find a way to make them work to our satisfaction. Regular family adventurers will know that our holidays are designed so that all our activities are social and fun, and we don’t want our families to come away feeling they have missed out because of the rules we’d need to impose for the holiday to go ahead.  We would much prefer you return next year and experience a wonderful, fun and exciting adventure, creating lots of happy memories.

However, we are thrilled that our Ardèche Adventure Kayak Expedition is still open this summer as we believe we can safely operate the same trip in accordance with the current French social distancing measures.

Also, new for 2020, we've introduced an alternative family break, based at our 3 star hotel located in the beautiful Opal Coast region of Northern France. Located just a short hop across the Channel, Opal Coast Explorer break is perfect for families who would prefer a trip a little closer to home this summer.

My 2020 family adventure holiday is no longer available - what are my options?

We are so sorry if your adventure is not running this year due to the coronavirus restrictions. You will be sadly missed at our Med and Normandy centres. However, this doesn't mean that you have to miss out. If your family adventure is no longer available, you can switch your family holiday to the Ardèche Adventure Kayak Expedition or to our new Opal Coast Family Adventure (see below for more about this holiday).

Alternatively, if you are not able to travel this summer, we are offering our groups the flexibility to transfer their holiday to the same week next year free of charge. We are in contact with all the families affected and we're pleased to report that a good number have already rearranged their trip.

Should I switch to the Ardèche Adventure Kayak Expedition?

If you are looking for something more adventurous the Ardeche Kayak Expedition is running in Summer 2020 hosted by our partners Ardeche AdventuresThe action-packed holiday can operate in accordance with socially distancing measures and because the Ardeche can be reached by car (approximately 9 hours from Calais) there is no need to board a plane. You can rest assured you and your family will be in safe hands with our partners Ardeche Adventure. To find out more about visit https://adventureardeche.com/plan-your-adventure/

Is the Opal Coast Family Explorer for me?

We have recently introduced the Opal Coast Family Explorer to accommodate families who will miss out on their Med Beach Club, Chateau or Mont Saint-Michel holidays this year. We know that after the last few months of lockdown our families will probably be looking forward to their trip away, and so we have designed a family break at our hotel in Northern France which better suits the prevailing social distancing rules. What's more, it is just a short drive from Calais (40 minutes), and so is in easy reach of the UK.

Based at the three star Moulin au Draps hotel, you can still enjoy a fun holiday, but exploring the local area as a family each day, rather than holidaying in a large group. We have organized an itinerary featuring local activities and excursions which everyone will love, and then, each evening, our Family Adventure Holiday staff will entertain the kids so that you can relax and enjoy a wonderful three-course meal in our popular restaurant.

The hotel Moulin aux Draps is set in 22 acres of beautiful French countryside overlooking an ancient watermill near the market town of Desvres, famous for its distinctive pottery. As well as plenty of outdoor space where you can roam and relax, there is a large sunny dining terrace, a pay bar and games room where the whole family can still enjoy a social atmosphere and the company of like-minded families.

The Moulin is already licensed to welcome guests under the current social distancing rules in France, but capacity is limited.  The price for a self-drive 4 night getaway is £270 per adult and £200 per child including bed, breakfast, evening meal and kids evening entertainment.  You will need to pay for your own travel, your lunch, and any activities and excursions. Or if you prefer something more relaxing, the Pas-de-Calais region has some beautiful beaches which are free!
