Essential Information & FAQS

I have a younger family which holiday do you recommend?

Our Normandy Chateau.

This is all-inclusive and once you arrive there really is nothing to spend your money on (until the excursion to Mount St Michel).  Children from as young as 2 years of age can join in their own activity programme, however we do ask that parents are present to ensure children settle and are happy.  We have a dedicated area with a sand pit, paddling pool,  house, toys, scooters etc. We will supervise some play sessions but generally this will be with parents rather than instead of.  We can offer child bike seats if you fancy coming along on one of the adult cycle tours with your little one.

Our activity programme goes up to 16 years of age (and then into the adult programme) with different age appropriate activities, so even if you have a family with a wide range of ages, there really is a lot to do for everyone.

I have a family with youngsters and teenagers - which holiday is for me?

What is the difference between your Normandy La Grand Ferme and Chateau de la Baudonniere?

Both centres are all inclusive, with La Grand Ferme being smaller and more relaxed and the Chateau - fast and furious.

  • La Grand Ferme is smaller is size where we will accommodate around 12 families in total compared to the Chateau with around 25 families.
  • La Grand Ferme is suited for children aged 6 and above
  • La Grand Ferme has an outdoor heated swimming pool, the Chateau has a lake.  Some activities take place using these facilities
  • The activity programme differs between the 2 centres although guests at La Grand Ferme are taken to the Chateau for a day to experience activity sessions such as archery, climbing, aeroball and the mini-farm.  The Chateau has an extra family activity session late in the afternoon.
  • The Chateau offers french lessons at a supplementary cost
  • La Grand Ferme is set in 3 acres of grounds with a swimming pool, volleyball court, football grass area, astro-pitch and petanque court.
  • The Chateau is part of a 100 acre estate with lake, waterfall, orchard, mini-farm, games room, basketball court, home-ball and astro-pitch

How does a Normandy Adventure activities programme work?

We have a structured programme of activities which begins on the first morning of your holiday. Every day we run morning and afternoon activity sessions. We have specific activity sessions for children (children are divided into age ranges to make sure everyone gets the most from the session) and different activities for adults, and some activities are undertaken as families.  During the week we also take a trip to Mount St Michel to experience the breathtaking views and the excitement of quick sands.  Evening activities are also provided.

La Grand Ferme tends to be slightly more laid back with a few breaks in the programme during which you can relax compared to the fast and furious pace of the Chateau.  However please remember, this is your holiday, you do not have to take part in everything.

Are our activities instructed in English?

In Normandy and Opal Coast our trained animateurs are French natives so they will introduce some French words but activity sessions are instructed in English. On the Ardeche and our Argeles programmes our instructors and guides will be English.

Children under 8 – what can they do?

Loads in our Normandy Adventure holiday although there are certain activities which children aged 7 cannot take part in. We have created some fun, imaginative activities for those children and their parents to do together such as bread making, visiting the mini farm and outside games.

Our Opal Coast Adventure is great for families with children of 4 and above

We do not recommend our French Med or Ardeche White Water Adventure holidays to families with children under the age of 8 years old although please talk to us if you have particularly active youngsters or have a mix of age ranges in your family.  Canyoning which is offered as part of the French Med programme is for ages 10 and above.  An alternate activity will be offered to younger children.

What meals are included in your holidays?

Our Normandy Adventures and Opal Coast all include food.  Each day will consist of a continental breakfast, wholesome French lunch and good quality evening meal. Breakfast will be the last meal provided on departure.

The Mediterranean Beach club includes 3 picnic lunches and 2 bbqs.

The Ardeche White Water includes a bbq and breakfast during the 2 day descent of the river and lunch during the 5 activity days.

Our Normandy and Opal Coast programme offers evening entertainment each night for the whole family such as the talent show, camp fire and sports tournament. You can choose whether to join in or sit and watch.

Our Mediterranean Beach Club and Ardeche White Water programmes offer some evening entertainment, but recovering from the days adventures tend to be the favourite!

Do parents have to take part in all activities?
